Combat & Battles

At some point, you're going to want to really hurt somebody. Alternatively, somebody is going to want to really hurt you, and you’ll have to pre-emptively return the favor before you wind up dead. You should have a good understanding of the combat and weaponry.

Combat

Close Combat

The combat is designed in such a way that randomly pressing various buttons (sometimes called button mashing) won’t work very well. Instead, you must be aware of your movements as well as those of your enemy, and act accordingly.

Use swords, axes, spears or any other melee weapon to best your foe and prevail on the battlefield.

Fire Arms and Grenades

Powerful weapons to blow away your enemies. Although powerful, these weapons are sometimes slow and inaccurate. You must be careful to balance your strategy and approach.

Ranged Combat

If you’re carrying a ranged weapon, you can attempt to hit the enemy before they can hit you back, unless of course they also have a ranged weapon. Users of the bow and crossbow cannot use a shield since their weapon requires both hands. If you have a thrown weapon, you can use a shield as well.

If your aim proves true you can fell the greatest of foes before they have a chance to ride you down.

Mounted Combat

First, the prerequisites. You need to be on a horse capable of a moderate speed. So don’t try lancing from the back of a lame mule. Also, you will obviously need a polearm. Lances, spears, military forks, and many more are all suitable weapons. A longer weapon is usually more desirable than a shorter one that does higher damage, because it means you can hit the enemy before he can take a swing at you (or your horse).

Battles

When two or more parties hostile to each other meet on the  world map, a battle will break out. If one of the involved sides is friendly to you and the other is hostile, then you can decide to join in and help your allies. A battle consists of several phases where you can command your allies and try to win using superior tactics over your opponents. Formations, battle orders, troop management and firing orders are all important aspects of Battles which need to be mastered to become a legendary commander.
